This study examines the thermos-economic evaluation of an expander unit in the natural gas transmission process, with the aim of generating electricity in the pressure reduction unit of a gas pressure-boosting station. A hybrid system is proposed, which combines a turbo expander with a combined heat and power (CHP) unit. The expander unit reduces gas pressure and generates shaft power, while the CHP unit produces electricity and preheats the gas stream by recovering waste heat from a gas-fired generator. The system's electricity output is derived from two sources: high-pressure gas exergy and primary energy from the combusted gas.To assess the system's energetic performance and identify inefficiencies, the exergy efficiency of the system and its components were calculated. The system's exergy performance ratio and efficiency were found to be ۰.۶۸۸۶ and ۰.۵۳۵۷, respectively. Fuel product charts were plotted to help evaluate the system's performance. Additionally, carbon dioxide emission coefficients were compared with reference values to assess the environmental viability of the project. The results indicate that the system's emissions are within an acceptable range
