A Regioselective, One-Pot, Ultrasound Assisted, Biginelli-Type Reaction of Aldehyde,Urea/Thiourea and Phenylacetone

A facile one-pot regioselective and rapid synthesis of various novel ۳,۴-dihydropyrimidin-۲(۱H)-one(DHPMs) via a three-component Biginelli-type condensation of aldehyde, phenylacetone and urea/thiourea under ultrasonic irradiation with good yields is described. Simple and readily available starting materials, mild base-catalyzed reaction conditions, nocolumn chromatography, good to high yields, applying the sonochemical methodology as an efficient method and short reaction times are important features of this protocol.
