In this investigation, the interaction between a novel nickel (II) complex of the azithromycin drug, [Ni(Azi)۲(H۲O)۲].Cl۲ .۲H۲O, and ct-DNA was explored using UV-vis and CD spectroscopic methods. The UVvis spectroscopy results revealed a decrease in absorption intensity at ۲۶۰ nm without a significant red or blue shift, confirming the interaction of this complex with DNA. Moreover, the calculated binding constant suggests a high probability of major groove connection. In addition to confirming the interaction, the circular dichroism study was conducted, indicating groove binding as the mode of interaction.
