Nowadays, with the widespread use of additive manufacturing applications, it hasbecome important to join the parts obtained from this production method with othermaterials. In this study, it was aimed to investigate whether the AlSi۱۰Mg alloyproduced by additive manufacturing can be joined to the AA۵۰۸۳ alloy, which is widelyused in industrial applications, by friction stir welding (FSW) method. In this context,sheets produced in dimensions of ۲۰۰x۵۰x۴ mm۳ were used. FSW was performed usinga tool with triangular pyramid geometry with a rotation speed of ۸۰۰ rpm, at a traversespeed of ۸۵ mm x min-۱, and a pressure force of ۷ kN. The tilt angle of the FSW toolwas kept constant at ۲°. FSW was performed using X۴۰CrMoV۵-۱ (۱.۲۳۴۴) hot worktool steel consisting of a shoulder with a diameter of ۱۸mm and a ۲۴° cone angle. Afterthe FSW, the specimens were taken from the joint areas to investigate the structural andmechanical properties. It is observed that a very fine-grained structure emerges in themixing region. The tension test specimens were taken from the FSW zone parallel to thewelding direction by wire-electron discharge machine (EDM). Tensile tests wereperformed using the shape of a dog-bone specimen which in accordance with the ASTME۸. The tests were carried out using a tensile tester at a ۱x۱۰-۳ s-۱ strain rate.Evaluations were performed by comparing the findings with the base materials.
