Epidemiology of burns in Kerman: analysis of ۱۰۰۰ cases

The aim of this study was to describe the statistical analysis of ۱۰۰۰ burn patients admitted for treatment of burn between May and December ۱۹۹۵. The analysis data included age, gender, marital status, place of birth, time of accident, cause and extent of burn injuries. Children ( <۱۰ years) comprised ۴۶.۳℅ of the patients . Adolescents and young adults (۱۰_۴۰ years) comprised ۴۴.۳℅ of the patients. Male with mean (standard deviation= SD) age of ۱۶.۶(۱۵.۹) formed ۵۵.۶℅ and female with mean (SD) age of ۱۸.۶ (۱۶.۵) comprised ۴۴.۴℅ of the total burns. The oldest patient was ۸۵ years and the youngest was two months old. ۸۵.۶℅ of the patients received their burns at home. ۹۶.۳℅ sustained their burns accidentally while ۳.۷℅ of patients committed suicide with fire. Scald comprise ۴۰.۸℅ ,flame ۲۵.۵℅ hot tea ۹.۶℅ and hot appliances ۹.۲℅ of the burns.
