Determination of ultrasonographic hepatobioliary abnormalities in thalassemia mojor patients referring to Kerman university hospital NO۱

one of the complications of Beta-thalasemia major is hepatobiliary disorders for example cholelithiasis(Gallstone),in this study frequency of hepatobiliary ultra sound abnormal findings in ۲۰۰ patients in Kerman was investigated.among ۲۰۰ patients ,۱۱(۵.۵%) had gallstone.the average age of patients without  gallstone was ۱۰.۰۷+_۴.۹ years and that of patients with  gallstone was ۱۶.۱+_۵ years.therefore significant difference in this regard is observed(p<۰.۰۵).five patients (۲.۵%) had thichness wall in gall bladder.and their mean age was ۱۲+_۲.۵ years and that of patients with normal wall thichness was ۱۰.۳+_۵.۱ ywars with nisignificant difference between two groups.sixly three patients(۳۱.۵%) had history of splenecyomy and ۱۳۷ patients (۶۸.۵%) had no this history.among ۱۱ patients with gallstone ,۹ patients had history of splenecyomy  and ۲ patients had not this history with significant difference between the two groups(p<۰.۰۵).no significant differnce was observed in the average serum ferritin in patients with gallstone(۳۷۸۶+_۹۴۱.۴) and in the patients without gallstone(۳۱۴۷.۳+_۱۲۳۹.۷).
