The effect of nurse education and telephone follow-up (tele-nursing) on the quality of life ofCOVID-۱۹ patients

Introduction: Various physical and psychological factors lead to a decrease in the quality of life of Covid-۱۹patients. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of nurse education and telephone follow-up (telenursing)on the quality of life of Covid-۱۹ patients.Methods: In this quasi-experimental study, ۱۲۰ Covid-۱۹ patients were selected by convenience sampling andrandomly divided into two equal groups of control (n = ۶۰) and intervention (n = ۶۰). Telephone training andfollow-up regarding quality of life was performed for the experimental group during one month and nointervention was performed for the control group. Both groups completed the SF-۳۶ quality of life questionnairebefore and one month after the intervention. Finally, the data were analyzed using statistical tests and SPSSsoftware version ۱۶ at a significance level of p <۰.۰۵Results: The results showed that there was no statistically significant difference between the quality of lifescores of the two groups before the intervention (p = ۰.۶۱)However, after the intervention, the mean and standard deviation of the total score of quality of life in the controland intervention groups were ۶۳.۶۲+_ ۳/۹۳ and ۷۲/۶۲± ۳/۵۱, respectively, and the independent t-test showed astatistically significant difference between the two groups(p˂۰/۰۰۱).Conclusion: Nurse training and telephone follow-up improves the quality of life of Covid-۱۹ patients.Therefore, it is suggested that health managers, by creating policy-making, facilitate the implementation of thetele-nursing process in Covid-۱۹ patients
