Evaluation of perforin expression in lymphocytes present in colorectal tumors and itsassociation with CD۵۷ expression in tumor cells.

Introduction: Colorectal cancer is a type of cancer that includes colon cancer and rectal cancer, caused byuncontrolled growth of the inner layer of the organs of these two organs. Considering the role of tumor size,grade, staging and differentiation in determining the prognosis of colorectal cancer, the role of perforin in thedestruction of tumor cells and the role of CD۵۷ in the pathophysiology of cancer cell proliferation and immunity,we decided to conduct a study to determine the incidence of perforin in lymphocytes in colorectal tumors andits association with CD۵۷ expression in tumor cells in patients with colorectal cancer.Method: Pathological data of ۲۳ patients with colorectal cancer in terms of stage, size, lymph node involvement,CD۵۷ expression and perforin were extracted from patients' files. The data were collected and entered intoSPSS version ۲۳ and analyzed by using descriptive statistical methods (frequency and percentage tables, meanand standard deviation, and graph plotting). Then, due to the non-normal distribution of quantitative data, theywere analyzed using the Mann-Whitney test. The qualitative data were also analyzed using the Chi-square test.Results: Of the ۲۳ patients participating in the study, ۱۱ (۴۷.۸%) were female and ۱۲ (۵۲.۲%) were male. Also,the mean age of the patients was ۵۰.۶۵ ± ۱۶.۷۱ years. The expression of CD۵۷ in tumor cells and perforin inlymphocytes in colorectal cancer is independent and does not affect each other (P = ۰.۱۰۳).Conclusion: The expression of CD۵۷ in tumor cells and perforin in lymphocytes in colorectal cancer isindependent of tumor size, tumor stage and lymph node involvement and does not affect each other (P> ۰.۰۵).CD۵۷ and perforin expression was not significantly associated with age and sex of patients (P> ۰.۰۵)
