The investigation of the relationship between addiction and gender among adolescents

Introduction: Adolescence, as the most sensitive stage of development, plays an important role in the formationof identity and can cause changes in psychological, social, sexual, and physical fields. These changes may causesocial isolation, feelings of loneliness, depression, drug use, and abuse, such that these changes were reportedby teachers among ۱۷% of students. On the other hand, gender identity is a situation in which a personexperiences incompatibility between his gender and his biological sex. Sexual dissatisfaction can causediscomfort and psychological problems. The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship betweenthe concept and gender identity among adolescents.Method: In this article, the keywords of drug consumption, transgender, adolescent, smoking, drug and alcoholuse were searched in Pub Med, Web of Science, and Science Direct databases. And ۲۵ relevant articles from۲۰۱۹ to ۲۰۲۳ have been selectedResults: We found that there is a significant relationship between society and identity, so there is a positiverelationship and correlation between addiction and sexual identity, so with increasing drug consumption, genderdysphoria also increases.Conclusion: It showed that a teenager who experiences gender dissatisfaction may be the result of socialisolation, poor mental health, and coping with stress and anxiety that can be associated with their condition.Care and support for adolescents with sexual dysfunction are important in the reintegration of this populationinto society. These cares include access to positive health care and services and education for family membersand their caregivers.
