چکیده مقاله:

Introduction: Obesity can cause a variety of health problems, including type ۲ diabetes, cardiovascular issues, and mental disorders. Therefore, bariatric surgery can be effective in reducing the negative effects of obesity .After bariatric surgery, patients must adhere to certain guidelines to prevent postoperative complications suchas anemia, dumping syndrome, and osteoporosis. These guidelines include dietary and exerciserecommendations as well as taking vitamins. This study assessed patients' adherence to dietary supplementsafter bariatric surgery. Methods: This narrative review analyzed several related studies published between ۲۰۱۳ and ۲۰۲۳. Thedatabases searched included PubMed, Scopus, ISC, SID, Magiran, and Google Scholar. The search wasconducted using keywords such as "obesity", "bariatric", "diet", "adherence", and "supplementation", bothindividually and in combination. Ten relevant articles were selected and reviewed based on our researchobjectives. Results: Patients who undergo bariatric surgery require dietary supplements such as Vitamin D, iron, omegafatty acids, calcium, folic acid, and the B complex. Studies have shown that only ۱۵% to ۶۰% of individualsfollow recommended dietary supplementation principles after surgery. Conclusion: It is crucial for patients to take supplements to maintain a healthy diet and avoid complications.Healthcare professionals should provide nutritional counseling to ensure that patients receive adequatesupplementation. Regular check-ups should be conducted to monitor the patient's progress and provide guidanceon any necessary changes. If patients have concerns, they should seek professional advice.
