چکیده مقاله:

Introduction: Despite the respiratory system being the most commonly affected organ system in cases of covid-۱۹, it is important to acknowledge that other organs, particularly the heart, are also impacted by the disease. Theprevalence of cardiovascular disorders as a result of covid-۱۹ can significantly influence the severity andmortality rates in affected patients. With the objective of exploring the correlation between serum ferritin levelsand acquired heart diseases in pediatric covid patients ranging from birth to ۱۴ years old, this study wasconducted at the Bandar Abbas Children's Hospital in ۲۰۱۹-۱۴۰۰.Methods: This study obtained the necessary ethics code and certificate from the ethics committee of HormozganUniversity of Medical Sciences. Subsequently, the patients underwent echocardiography examinations and therequired tests were conducted and assessed. Data was collected using a researcher-designed questionnairechecklist, which was reviewed and adjusted by esteemed professors specializing in pediatric hematology, cardiology, and infectious diseases, as well as a statistician. The patients' medical records were thoroughlyexamined and the data was analyzed using SPSS software. Results: Of the ۱۱۶ covid patients who were examined, ۶۲ (۵۳.۴۵%) were female and ۵۴ (۴۶.۵۵%) were male. The highest ferritin levels were observed in patients between ۶ months to ۱-year-old, followed by patients aged۱ to ۳ years. The majority of patients, specifically ۱۰۵ (۹۰.۵%) children and infants with covid, exhibited normalheart function. The mean weight of the examined patients was ۱۴.۸۰ ± ۱۱.۹۷ kg. Both female and male covidpatients exhibited heart diseases, although the prevalence was higher among females. Among children andinfants with covid, the ferritin levels were lower in females. Interestingly, the statistical analysis indicated asignificant relationship between ferritin levels and heart diseases in female covid patients, in contrast to theirmale counterparts. Furthermore, children and infants with covid who did not have heart diseases exhibited lowerferritin levels across almost all age groups. The data analysis demonstrated a relationship between ferritin levelsand heart diseases in covid patients under ۶ months of age. The ferritin levels in COVID-۱۹ patients tend to behigher in infants and children with lower weight. Conversely, as weight increases, the ferritin levels in thesepatients demonstrate a significant decrease. Conclusion: The level of serum ferritin serves as a predictive factor for the development of acquiredcardiovascular disorders.
