A review of the impact of health cares on student's nutrition literacy

Introduction: Childhood is a key stage that shows rapid changes in physical, psychological, social andbehavioral growth. Unhealthy eating habits can make children susceptible to communicable and noncommunicablediseases and weaken their learning capacity. One of the essential aspects of literacy that affectsstudent's health is food and nutrition literacy. Nutritional literacy is a degree of people's ability to acquire,process and understand the necessary information and skills that lead to appropriate nutritiondecisions.Methods: In this review study, among ۱۱ articles published in pubmed and SID data bases, ۵ articles werefinally selected that investigated the nutritional literacy of student's nutritional literacy can positively influencepeople's dietary behavior nutritional behaviors are an essential part of a healthy lifestyle and it is obvious thatdesirable health behaviors in adolescence are maintained until late adulthood and may have a profound impacton health status. Considering the importance of nutrition literacy, it can be a helpful factor in improving student'shealth.Results: The presence of healthcare workers in Iranian schools can play an essential role in improving the healthand nutritional literacy of students. In a study it was reported that nearly two-thirds of students in Iran did nothave a health care provider most of the students were at a low level in terms of nutritional healthknowledge.(۸۷.۷% of boys and ۶۵.۳% of girls)and in general, the probability of low level of nutritional literacyin students with health care providers was lower than those without health care providers the results show thatstudents with a health care provider had better nutritional literacy than students without a provider.Conclusion: Studies consider one of the basic problems in the educational content of Iranian schools to be thelack of focus on practical skill-oriented topics. Health policy makers and educational administrators should usespecialized health care providers to improve student health and implement health and self-care educationalinterventions.
