چکیده مقاله:
BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVESThe dangerous and fatal genetic disease called Cystic Fibrosis (CF) is caused by loss-of-function mutations in the gene encoding for the CFTR chloride/bicarbonate channel. The objective of this study was to investigate the swabs of throat cultures for children with cystic fibrosis.MATERIALS AND METHODSThroat swabs were collected from the Mahdieh Medical Laboratory in Isfahan, Iran. Throat swabs are an important part of disease surveillance for children who are unable to produce sputum. A total of ۵۰ patients were enrolled in this study. The outcome of current research was approved by the Mahdieh Medical Laboratory Ethics Committee. To meet the purpose, all children with CF aged ۴–۱۲ years were targeted from April to July ۲۰۲۳.RESULTS AND DISCUSSIONFour different organisms were isolated: Pseudomonas aeroginosa (۴۴.۵%), Staphylococcus aureus (Methicillin- resistant) (۱۷%), Streptococcus Pyogenes (۲۲%), and Candida spp. (۱۶.۵%). S. aureus (MRSA) was found to be sensitive to Ciprofloxacin and Gentamycine. Meanwhile, Fungal isolates disclosed great sensitivity to Amphotericin B.CONCLUSIONIn conclusion, Pseudomonas aeruginosa was the most frequently isolated organism, which was largely sensitive to Ceftazidime and Meropenem. To treat Streptoccocus pyogenes, the use of Penicillin is recommended for ۱۰ days.
