چکیده مقاله:

Coronavirus disease (COVID-۱۹) pandemic has affected worldwide health care. Given the possibility for coronavirus to prompt oxidative stress, masked glucose-۶-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency (G۶PD) deficiency in the presence of the COVID-۱۹ viral infection may instigate hemolytic crisis and dangerous consequences in affected individuals. G۶PD deficiency is an X-linked recessive disorder that affects some ۴۰۰ million people worldwide, with a higher prevalence in Africa, the Mediterranean Region, and Asia. A dearth of studies and literature on available antivirals for managing COVID-۱۹ patients with G۶PD deficiency brings the healthcare workers to a conundrum. Here, we report an interesting symptomatic case of COVID-۱۹ patient with G۶PD deficiency, hypertension, and resolved hepatitis B. Antiviral therapy for COVID-۱۹ positive patients with G۶PD deficiency should be individualized by considering the risk and benefit of treatment involved, recommending a multidisciplinary team approach.
