چکیده مقاله:
The rapid growth in the consumption of hydrocarbon resources as well as refined products world wide has meant an inevitable increase in pipeline networks stretching across varied terrain, passing under and above ground and even under water being subjected to diverse weather conditions. Amongst the most severe environments are those found in soils remnant of ancient seas covering where is now known as interior Iranian plateau. This necessitates special techniques to overcome the inherent tendency of ferrous materials to undergo severe corrosion under salt laden soils. A combination of surface coatings as well as cathodic protection is prescribed for counteracting the presence of aggressive ions such as SO4 2- and Cl- and hydrogen and hydroxyl generation due to CP.The present work simulates the conditions of such ground by washing Behraman salt plane earth according to set procedures for soil analysis and investigates the delamination resistance of PE coated gas pipeline specimens. The effect of different surface preparation procedures using crushed copper slag instead of usual sand blasting were then evaluated according to criteria set for coating testing.
