Gender Differences in Impulsiveness

The present study aims to assess the difference between males and females in impulsiveness. For this purpose, data were collected from ۲۰۰ undergraduate students of Kolkata, India, of which ۱۰۰ were males and ۱۰۰ were females. A purposive sampling technique was followed. The Barratt Impulsiveness Scale (BIS-۱۱) was used for this study. An Independent t-test was used to find the difference between the two groups. A significant difference was found between males and females. The results showed that males (m=۱۹.۳۵) are more impulsive than females (m=۱۶.۷۵). The study throws light on the causes of impulsivity among males and suggests ways to deal with it, to improve the quality of life.
