چکیده مقاله:
Background: The family plays the most important role in shaping a child's personality. The type of relationships governing the family system and the quality of the parent-child relationship will guarantee the success or failure of the child in his future challenges. It is necessary for the continuation of a person's life at the level of society and to be safe from numerous threats, with regard to improving the skill of daring and achieving a better image of the value and importance of one's thoughts and feelings. In this research, the relationship between parenting strategies and the quality of parent-child communication with self-respect and boldness in children was investigated.Method: In this cross-sectional study, ۲۰۰ first and second grade high school students (۷th, ۸th, ۹th, ۱۰th, ۱۱th grade) of Astara schools were included in the study by random cluster sampling. The research tools included the knowledge questionnaires of Kirman et al.'s parenting strategies, the quality of parent-child relationship, self-esteem and assertiveness made by Gambrill and Riki (۱۹۷۵). Data analysis was done in SPSS-۲۰ software. Results: The average age of the students was ۱۴.۸۷ ± ۱.۲۹ years. Most of the students were boys (۶۵.۵%) and in the eighth grade of secondary education (۳۳.۶%). In the multiple regression model, there was a significant relationship between the quality of the parent-child relationship and assertiveness (p<۰.۰۰۱). An increase in the quality score of parent-child relationship was associated with a decrease in courage score. Also, there was a significant relationship between the quality of parent-child relationship and strategic knowledge with self-respect (p<۰.۰۰۱). An increase in the quality score of parent-child relationship and strategic knowledge was associated with an increase in the respect score. Conclusion: Child-parent communication is an important predictor of self-esteem and assertiveness. Also, the current study indicated that the knowledge of parenting strategies had a positive effect on the child's self-esteem, but no relationship was observed with the child's boldness, and it needs more studies.
