چکیده مقاله:

Today, computer games and internet addiction have become widespread in the teenage age-group and have caused problems for the individual, family, and society. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of computer games and internet addiction on depression in Hamadan teenagers. The research method was semi-experimental (pre-test and post-test with control group) and the statistical population was all teenagers of Hamadan city. ۱۴ adolescents for the control group and ۱۴ adolescents for the experimental group were selected using available methods. Data collection was done with Internet Addiction and Computer Games (IACG) and Beck Depression Inventory (BDI). Data analysis was done by covariance analysis using SPSS-۲۵ software. The findings showed that there is a statistically significant difference between the two experimental and control groups (P < ۰.۰۵). Based on the findings of this research, it can be said that changes in mood, irritability, and unwillingness to do daily tasks and homework due to addiction to the Internet and computer games have negative effects on teenagers' performance. Family and school, while considering the sensitive conditions of this period of a person's development, must take necessary measures to reduce this behavioral addiction.
