Antimicrobial peptides against mycobacterium: Features and Challenges

Background: Antimicrobial resistance has become one of the major problems in the world, and with the widespread prevalence of antibiotic resistance, treatment methods become difficul.Materials and Methods: In this study, in order to investigate the antimicrobial peptide against mycobacteria, the reports from authentic articles from databases such as scholar, pubmed, we of science were studied.Results: The results showed an increasing increase in drug resistance to mycobacteria. Common antibiotics to treat multidrug-resistant TB (MDR-TB) and (XDR-TB) can be ineffective. Therefore, the need for new tuberculosis drugs such as anti-mycobacterial peptides can be effective in treatment.Conclusion: It has shown the effect of antimicrobial peptides against mycobacteria, but it seems necessary to conduct more extensive studies in the clinical phase in different countries.
