SMALL HIGH SPEED RADIAL INFLOW TURBINE

An experimental investigation was conducted to establish the performance characteristics of two small, high speed, turbocharger, radial inflow turbines. First, a nozzleless turbine incorporating a wastegate, designed for high speed engine turbocharging condition, was studied. Then, a nozzled, variable geometry turbine, designed for low engine speed conditions, was tested. It was found that the characteristics of two turbines are different but both turbines operate very well in their own conditions.
