چکیده مقاله:

Background: Nurse prescribing is a successful innovation in the professional roles of nurses. The purpose ofthis study was to determine to explore the nurses’ experiences of the philosophy of nurse prescribing in ICUin Iran.Methods: Data were collected through semi-structured face-to-face interviews with ۱۹ participants were selectedusing purposive sampling and continued until data saturation. The interviews were analysed using Graneheim andLundman's conventional content analysis method. MAXQDA version ۱۰ software was used for data management.Results: The mean age of participants was ۴۳.۱±۱۱.۰۷ years. The two categories and six sub-categories werereported by nursing staff. which includes: "Saving the lives of patients in emergency situations". With the subcategoriesof Moral and conscientious values, Faith values, Professional ability. And "Non-emergencyconditions", That the sub- categories included: Suppression of negative inner feelings, Implied authorizationbased on physician trust, Courage and risk taking.Conclusions: Most of the nurses stated that they are morally, religiously and professionally responsible to thepatients and that they have to prescribe medicine to save the lives of the patients and not to delay the treatment.Despite the nurse prescribing role has been legalized and implemented in many countries, there is still no law inthe ICU and other places in Iran. nursing policy makers should take necessary measures to legalize nursingprescription.
