Introduction: Postpartum depression is one of the most common disordersassociated with various factors. Considering the level of hormones in differenttemperaments, this study was conducted to determine the relationship betweencold and hot temperament and postpartum depression.Methods: This descriptive study was conducted on ۱۶۹ primi and multipleparas'women in Sabzevar in ۱۳۹۶. The convenient sampling method was used. Datacollection instruments were Edinburgh Postpartum Depression Inventory andTemperament questionnaire. Data analysis was performed using SPSS version ۲۰software and logistic regression test.Results: chi-square test showed a significant correlation between cold and warmtemperament and postpartum depression (P = ۰.۰۰۱). Out of ۴۸ cold-temperedparticipants ۴۶ (۹۵.۸%) had postpartum depression. The least problem ofdepression was seen in moderate temperament (۱۷.۹%). Logistic regression testshowed a significant relationship between postpartum depression and cold andwarm temperament (p <۰.۰۵).Conclusion: In post-partum depression, those who have a cold temperament aremore likely to have depression than those who have warm. Meanwhile, moderatetemperament has the lowest level of depression. The result of this study wasobtained in a limited population with a small number of samples. Therefore,future studies should be proposed with higher sample sizes in more centers.
