چکیده مقاله:

Background and objective: Infertility is an undesirable problem affecting a lot of couples in the world. Intrauterine insemination (IUI) is one of the simplest treatment strategies applying in infertile couples with unexplained infertility and mild/moderate semen quality. In this method, washed sperm cells after processing are used for IUI. Sperm morphology is one of the sperm parameters that may be considered as a prognostic factor for infertility treatment. Sperm morphology according to kruger strict criteria can be evaluated using diff-quick staining. In the present study, we analyzed the correlation between normal sperm morphology evaluated by diff-quick staining and intrauterine insemination results retrospectively in infertile couples referred to the infertility center of Semnan city.Materials and Methods: One hundred ten infertile couples included into the study. Semen analyses were done according to WHO ۲۰۱۰. Diff-quick staining was performed for sperm morphology evaluations. After ovarian stimulation, IUI was conducted using processed and washed sperm cells. Following ۱۴ days, beta hCG was tested and positive or negative results was recorded. Data analyses were performed using prism software.Findings: The mean age of women and men participating in the study were ۳۴ and ۴۶, respectively. The mean of total motile sperm count after washing was ۸۵.۴ million. The mean percentage of normal sperm morphology after sperm processing was ۱۹.۱. There was no significant correlation between normal sperm morphology after processing and positive beta hCG results (p=۰.۸). In addition, no significant correlation was found between normal sperm morphology and number of previous IUI cycles (p=۰.۳).Conclusions: According to our study, chemical pregnancy result following IUI is not related to normal sperm morphology evaluated by diff-quick staining after processing.
