Investigating the intensity of lighting and factors affecting it in elementary schools in Qorveh city in ۱۴۰۰

Background and Objective: Quality of lighting is very important in creating the desire to study and visual comfort and productivity in the learning process of students. The quality and color of light can damage people's visual skills or improve their educational performance.This research was conducted with the aim of measuring the intensity of lighting in the primary schools of Qorveh city.Materials and Methods: amount of total (natural and artificial) and natural lighting was measured separately in classrooms and corridors using a digital LM۷۶ multi-metric lux meter, as well as whether the lamps were defective or healthy, the type of lamps used, the color of the walls and the equipment in the The environment was investigated. Finally, the data was analyzed using SPSS۲۶ software.Finding: measurement results of ۱۲۰ cases of classrooms and ۶۰ cases of office rooms and corridors show that in ۶۸% of the investigated cases, the total lighting intensity in the classrooms and ۵۲% of the corridors corresponded to the recommended standard values for educational centers. In terms of lighting conditions, boys' schools were in a worse condition compared to girls' schools. Also, local lighting measurement on the board and table showed that only ۳۴% of the classes have a suitable condition.Conclusions: Improper placement of windows, the type and color of the wall, the type of floor, and the state of the curtains have created a significant difference in the average level of lighting intensity, and the improper and defective arrangement of most of the lighting systems has led to uneven distribution of lighting in schools.Therefore, in order to improve the level of health and learning of students, it is suggested to modify the lighting systems according to the standard patterns and also use more natural light to achieve proper lighting according to the standard values in schools.
