Background & ObjectivesRecent studies conducted regarding COVID-۱۹ and its treatments as an impressive breadth of pathology across multiple organ systems. However, audiovestibular manifestations did not receive much attention compared with other critical manifestations. So, the aim of this study is to review audiovestibular manifestations of COVID-۱۹ related to virus infection and vaccination. Material & MethodsThis study was conducted, using the Key words COVID-۱۹, coronavirus infections, hearing loss, vestibular diseases, and COVID-۱۹ vaccines. The related articles were searched from ۲۰۱۹ in PubMed/MEDLINE, PsycINFO, CINAHL, ISI Web of Science, Cochrane Library, EMBASE, and Scopus databases.ResultsSARS-CoV-۲ affects the central nervous system which could reflect direct infection or related vascular damage due to vasculopathy. Vertigo has recently been described as a clinical manifestation of neuroinvasive characteristics of COVID-۱۹ due to acute labyrinthitis, vestibular neuritis, acute otitis media, or secondary to stroke following COVID-۱۹. Based on a study during pandemic, there was an increase in the frequency of patients presenting with tinnitus, aural fullness, and/or the exacerbation of previously stable Menière’s in addition to autoimmune inner ear disease. Also, several sudden sensorineural hearing loss and vestibular neuritis were reported after receiving the Astra Zeneca vaccine.ConclusionsDamage to the inner ear and eighth cranial nerve must be considered as a possible side effect of the vaccination or as a manifestation of virus infection. It is necessary to pay more attention to this relationship and start possible treatment as soon as possible.
