چکیده مقاله:

Background and Purpose: This study was conducted to determine the relationship between stigmatizing attitudes toward HIV / AIDS patients in relation to job satisfaction in nurses and midwives in Yazd, eastern Iran. Cases of HIV / AIDS have not been studied.Study design: A cross-sectional study. Methods: a total of ۳۹۹ nurses and midwives entered the study using a multi-stage cluster method and all participants completed two standard questionnaires of health personnel attitude towards HIV and job satisfaction on their own. Pearson correlation coefficient and multiple regression analysis were used to investigate the relationship between stigmatizing attitude and job satisfaction and to control the effect of confounding variables. Analyzes were evaluated using STATA software (version ۱۱).Results: The mean (standard deviation) of the stigmatizing attitude score was ۱۷.۳۴ (۸.۶) which was equal to the mean number (score ۳۴) and showed the average level of stigmatizing attitude in midwives and nurses. In total, ۲۴.۵%, ۵۲.۹% and ۲۲.۶% of the participants had Non-stigmatizing attitude (<۳۰), somewhat stigmatizing (۳۹-۳۰) and stigmatizing (> ۳۹) attitudes towards HIV, respectively. Also, the overall mean score of job satisfaction was ۵۳.۸۹, which indicates the average level (۳۸ to ۵۷) of job satisfaction in nurses and midwives. In addition, the overall job satisfaction score was significantly inversely related to the stigmatized attitude of individuals so that in return for increasing the job satisfaction score in staff, their stigmatizing attitude score decreased (β = ۰.۱۰; P = ۰.۰۰۱).Conclusionss: The findings showed an inverse and indirect relationship between job satisfaction and attitude. Accordingly, and considering that nurses and midwives have a key role in the care, diagnosis and treatment of people living with HIV, it is necessary for health managers and policy makers to factors affecting the job satisfaction of nurses and midwives
