Identification of Petroleum Reservoir Souring Mechanisms; Applying some Case Studies from Iran and around the World

oil field reservoir souring occurs when hydrogen sulfide concentration increases in production fluids hydrogen sulfide is toxic corrosive and environmentally damaging facilities in petroleum industry theefore it is important to undrstand the origin of this deleterious gas in petroleum resevoirs some reservoir souring mechanisms occur during geological time scale such as thermal reduction of sulfur and some others happen due to human interference like sour gas injection since hydrocarbon souring increases the cost of refining as well as wellhead facilities and also decreases the hydrocarbon sale value . it is importand to know how reservoir souring occors it should be mentioned tha knowing the source of souring may lead to prevention of hydrogen sulfide spreading in reservoirs and in some cases cause to cease reservoir souring and making it sweet .
