Synthesis, Characterization and spectral properties of new Schiff baseligand derived from “(E)-۴-((nitrophenyl)diazenyl)-۲-hydroxy-۳-methoxybenzaldehyde” with amine and its metal complexes

In view of recent developments and increasing applications of transition metal complexeswith Schiff base ligands, in this research work the novel azo Schiff base of Cu(II) and Ni(II)have been synthesized by reaction of Cu(OAC)۲.۱H۲O, Ni(OAC)۲.۴H۲O and NiCl۲.۶H۲O with“methyl۲-((۲-((E)-(۲-hydroxy-۳-methoxy-۵-((E)-(۴-nitrophenyl)diazenyl)benzylidene)amino)ethyl)amino)cyclopent-۱-enecarbodithioate” novel azo Schiff base ligand. The new products werecharacterized by IR, UV-Vis, ۱HNMR and fluorescence spectroscopies. The spectroscopic datasuggest that in these complex the azo Schiff base ligands are coordinated as deproton formthrough oxygen, nitrogen and sulfur atoms with metal[۱]. The coordination around metal in thesecomplex was essentially square-planar with a small tetrahedral distortion[۲,۳].
