Nursing Care Quality in the Cardiac Care Unit: A Cross-Sectional Study

Background: Healthcareisinevitablyassociatedwithanincreasedriskof patientsafety. Duetothecomplexityof attitudeof care, thesafetycultureandthecareof patientsplayamajorroleinsafecare. Objectives: Thepresentstudyaimedtoassessthequalityof safenursingcareintheCardiacCareUnit. Methods: ThisisadescriptivestudyconductedintheCardiacCareUnitof BaqiyatallahHospitalin۲۰۱۸. Allnursingstaffworking inthecardiaccareunitcomprisedthesampleof thestudy.SafenursingcarewasmeasuredusingatooldesignedbyRashvandetal. in۲۰۱۵. DatawereanalyzedbySPSSversion۲۱. ThisstudywasapprovedbytheethicscommitteeinBMSU. Results: Theresultsshowedthatthemajorityof theresearchsample(۵۵%)wasmalewithanaverageageof ۴۲.۸۵±۹.۶۶yearsand aworkingexperienceof ۱۹.۰۵±۸.۴years. Themeanscoreof theethicaldimensionwas۱۷.۴۷±۱.۹۲. Conclusions:Theresultsof thisresearchcanbeusedineducationalplanningattheundergraduatelevelof nursingtoeducatethe students from the beginning of education, especially in the first semester, regarding patient safety, in particular, ethics, and safe care,inordertomakeiteasiertouseinthefutureandtoreducetheneedforin-servicetrainingprograms.
