Scientometric and content analysis of theHighly-Cited & Hot Papers on genomics & cancer therapyin the world

Background: Recent advances in genomics have made investigating gene expression in all types of cancers possible. Studyingnew and valuable research in this field can provide valuableand practical information for a broad overview of the recentresearch. Also, it helps to find out the future direction of theknowledge.Materials and Methods: A search strategy for cancer and geneticswas conducted in the Web of Science database until ۱March ۲۰۲۳. ۷,۵۸۱ Highly-Cited Papers and ۱۳۹ Hot-Paperswere retrieved. A scientometric analysis and illustration of thenetworks of co-occurrence and co-authorship applied for all articlesusing bibliometrix R-package and VOSviewer software.The content of the Hot-papers was analyzed to find out the topicand purpose with emphasis on genomics and cancer therapy.The results showed in many figures and tables.Results: Analyzing the Highly-Cited Papers (HCP) showedthat USA, China, and England respectively had the most HCP.“MEM SLOAN KETTERING CANC CTR” had the most publicationsworldwide (n=۱۲۵۷). The “Nature” journal publishedmost articles (۴.۵۳%). “Gad Getz” with ۱۰۷ articles, had themost HCP. The scientometric and content analysis of Hot-Paperswas also carried out. Findings showed that most citationswere for the article by “Mitchell MJ” (n=۱,۳۶۷), and ۵۰ paperswere explicitly related to genomics and cancer. Most articleswere about general cancer (n=۱۸), followed by breast cancer,myeloid leukemia, lung cancer, and renal cell carcinoma. Also,most were related to cancer treatment (n=۲۰), and then the diagnosis,prognosis and risk factor had the highest rank.Conclusion: Today, the topics of genetics and cancer therapyare progressing, and every once in a while, researchers mustreview the latest articles with hot and interesting topics. Significantresearch has been done by researchers in the field ofgenomics and cancer, which can determine and target the pathof future studies.
