Introduction: In December ۲۰۱۹, severe acute respiratory syndromecoronavirus-۲ (SARS-CoV-۲) infection started in Chinaand spread all over the world. It comes out that vaccination wasthe most promising approach to controlling the epidemic. Dueto the time limitation it wasn’t possible to assess the vaccinationoutcome in susceptible groups specifically in patients with canceror a cancer history; studies in this area merely focused onthe immunity occurred in these patients and not on the effect ofvaccination on the tumor behavior. Our main aim in this study, was to investigate the impact of vaccination against COVID-۱۹on the metastasis in breast cancer mice model.Materials and Methods: Vaccination with one and two dosesof
Sinopharm (S۱/S۲) performed on the ۴T۱ mouse model. After ۳۰ days after the mice became cancerous, they were euthanizedby CO۲, then their tumor and vital organs were carefullydissected. The expression level of MMP-۲/۹, E-cadherin,N-cadherin, and VEGF of the tumor was investigated by realtimePCR and IHC.
Metastasis in vital organs was assessed byHematoxylin and Eosin(H&E).Results: Real-time PCR, the expression of MMP-۲, MMP-۹, and N-cadherin genes decreased in both S۱and S۲ groupscompared to the control group. The expression level of the Ecadheringene in both the S۱and S۲ groups has increased comparedto the control group. IHC results revealed that the controlgroups (C۱ and C۲) showed the highest expression of VEGF,MMP-۹, and MMP-۲, but S۱and S۲ had much lower expressioncompared to the control groups. Furthermore, the controlgroups showed metastatic lesions in the liver and lungs, but nometastatic lesions were observed in S۱and S۲.Conclusion:
Sinopharm vaccination against COVID-۱۹ canhinder breast cancer metastasis and/or angiogenesis. This effectis better shown when two doses of the
Sinopharm vaccine arereceived.
