چکیده مقاله:

Crude oil storage tanks can have corrosion attack from both inside and outside. The inner side of the tank bottom is corroded by the salt water that settles at the bottom of the tank. The outer side of the tank bottom can be corroded by moisture or water. If corrosion is only internal, then a conventional solvernt -free coating is adequate. Given the combination of inside and outside corrosion, an internal coating is insufficient as it will break under the load of the tank content when underside corrosion has eliminated the steel bottom due to corrosion and pitting . ln the case of inner and outer corrosion, a glass fiber reinforced lining is the right choice, as it will keep the tank from leaking even when the underlying steel has been corroded away. Such a glass fiber reinforced inner lining is therefore often referred to as rebottoming as it creates a new tank bottom in the tank. Tank rebottoming therefore provides a maintenance - free solution and is known to extend the service life of tanks by twenty years or more. the glass fiber reinforced rehottoming does not rcinfun;c thc .steel tank itself, but provides a new tank bottom that keeps the tank from leaking , even after the underlying original steel t.ank hottom has corroded away . The role of the glass fiher reinforcement is to givc the solvent free epoxy the necessary strength to act like a new tank bottom
