Cognitive flexibility refers to a person's ability to simultaneously consider conflicting representations of an object or an event. On the other hand, retirement and old age are often related phenomena that appear in a time symmetry with each other. This research aims to investigate the effect of retirement on the cognitive flexibility of the elderly. This research is based on the purpose of applied type. And in terms of the nature of descriptive research and from Opinion The method is a survey. Two library and field methods were used to collect information. In this research, thedata collection tool in the field part of the questionnaire is with an alpha of ۰.۷۸۱ The questionnaire of this research is designed in two parts. The first part. questions about the personal and demographic characteristics of the respondents, and the second part deals with measuring the impact of retirement on the cognitive performance of the elderly, including the study of the relationship between retirement and working memory. Cochran was calculated for The questionnaire was randomly distributed among the statistical sampleFinally the analysis of the information obtained from the questionnaires was done to test the hypothesis using a one-sample T-test. After collecting the data and analyzing them, the research hypothesis was confirmed and it can be said that retirement has a significant effect on the cognitive flexibility of the elderly. The result of this research indicates that connecting the elderly with social activities can help the cognitive flexibility of the elderly in the country.
