The Impact of Insurtech and Innovation Ecosystem on the Development of Insurance Industry in Iran (Case Study: Saman Insurance)

The insurance sector plays a critical role in the economic growth.Nowadays, economies are rapidly moving towards being more knowledge based,supporting the force of knowledge as a vital component of productivity andeconomic growth The Internet and Innovation through new technologies affectfinancial services particularly insurance industry. Business services, models, andprocesses are rapidly evolving largely supported by technological developments.Insurers have a choice: be disrupted or be the disruptor with new technologies,services, and innovation ecosystem. The purpose of this study was to considerthe efficiency role of insurtech and innovation ecosystem on the Purchase ofInsurance Products in Iran.To achieve this goal, the research model estimated was based on statistical primarydata analysis procedure that was gathered through structured questionnaires and agroup of ۳۹۱ customers within the range of ۲۰ to ۶۰ years old having insurancepolicies at Saman Insurance Company participated in this study.After gathering the required data, these associations supported the theory thatinsurtech and innovation ecosystem play a significant role on enhancingpurchase of insurance products in Iran and the best way for reaching morecustomers. In a time, when technological developments, and empoweredcustomers are changing the nature of the insurance business, established insurersneed to determine how Insurtech fits in their strategies. Overall, it emerges thatinsurance companies have the opportunity and capability to innovate, in manycases using technological applications to cover new and existing risks and showthat innovation based on new technology determines the success andcompetitiveness of the business.
