Investigating contributories factor to severity of accidents on two-lane rural roads

The two-lane rural roads are one of the most dangerous members of the road network in terms of accidents, so it is very important to identify the factors that increase the number of accidents on such roads. In this article, based on the accident data taken from the police reports and using the Binary logistic regression model and dividing the severity of the accidents into two parts: fatal accidents, high-severity injuries and low-severity injuries, it examines the factors affecting the severity of accidents on two-lane rural roads. The results showed that type of accident including run-off road, head-on accidents, pedestrian crashes, motorcycle accidents, the age of the driver (۱۸-۲۵ years old), the time of occurrence (۲۴:۰۰ midnight to ۶:۰۰ am), the type of vehicle and the type of violation are the most important factors. It is hoped that the results of this analysis will be effective in improving the safety of two-lane roads.
