Investigation into the regioisomeric composition of some fused tetrazoles

Treatment of ۷-chloro-۱-phenylpyrimido[۴,۵-e][۱,۳,۴]thiadiazines with hydrazine in boilingethanol gave corresponding ۷-hydrazinyl derivatives. Diazotization of the latter compoundsacheived a mixture of ۵H-tetrazolo[۱',۵':۱,۲]pyrimido[۴,۵-e][۱,۳,۴]thiadiazine and ۹Htetrazolo[۵',۱':۲,۳]pyrimido[۴,۵-e][۱,۳,۴]thiadiazines. Ratio of these two group of productsdetermined by ۱HNMR studies and no significant preference was observed for their formation.Efforts for separation of the products were unsuccessful and its reason is discussed.
