Microwave-assisted hydrodistillation of essential oil fromOliveriadecumbens Vent.

Oliveriadecumbens Vent. Belongs to Umbelliferae family and is an endemic plant of FloraIranica that grows in high temperature areas of south and west of Iran with the common Persiannames of Mooshkorok, Den andDenak. In traditional medicine, it is used for digestion, diarrhea,abdominal pain andFever [۶].In this study, Microwave-assisted hydrodistillation was applied as a new and greentechnology.The two oils recovered from hydrodistillation and microwave-assist hydrodistillatonextraction contained the same dominant components: Carvacrol(۲۸.۸۰%, ۳۴.۸۰%); Thymol(۲۶.۹۰%, ۳۴.۳۶%); myristicin (۷.۵۷%, ۲۰.۸۸%) and p-Cymene (۱۶.۵۹%, ۲.۰۴%) respectively.
