چکیده مقاله:

Forest fires are catastrophic events that affect the landscape and vegetation in forested lands. They cause biodiversity loss, land degradation and ecological imbalance. Because wildfires cause severe damage to habitats, post-fire assessment is essential in determining the effects of fire on vegetation. This study estimates the burned area southwest of Phocis using the images of Sentinel-۲ and Landsat-۸ satellites in the Google Earth Engine (GEE) cloud platform. The NBR and dNBR indices were used to identify the burned areas. Data recorded by the European Forest Fire Information System (EFFIS) were used to assess accuracy. The results show that the Sentinel-۲ satellite performed better in estimating the burned area with a difference of ۱.۲% compared to the reference data due to the higher spatial resolution of these data.
