چکیده مقاله:

Today, the negative impacts about the ignorance of natural systems in humandevelopment are evident especially in urban areas. In the field of landscapearchitecture, there is a design strategy that attempts to enhance site ecosystems aswell as engage users by revealing ecological processes and relationships. Thisattitude which has been discussed under the term of "Eco-revelatory design"(ERD) utilizes the natural capabilities of the environment which exist in each site.Revealing the ecological processes in urban environment designs will contributethe users to experience, learn about, and appreciate those processes.Multifunctionality is another important advantage of this design strategy. It servesmultifunctional activities such as recreation, protection and education together. This advantage is a fundamental for sustainability, as it encourages efficient useof land. Actually Eco-revelatory design attitudes make the environment morelegible. These attitudes clarify the ecological phenomena for people and helpthem to create a spiritual connection with their environment and to have aneducational consciousness. ERD overlap cultural needs and ecological processesto raise curiosity in visitors to explore and understand the complexity of thelandscape.Consequently this study explores how eco-revelatory design process in urbanlandscape design uses and reveals natural systems in order to create amultifunctional and legible environment which raises the curiosity in its users toexplore and experience the inherent natural processes in their environment. Theconcept of ERD in urban environment enriches the human perception byincorporating visibility and observability of pre-existing natural processes of thesite.
