چکیده مقاله:

Plants secondary metabolites have been considered as safe and effective control method of stored productpests. In current study, insecticidal activities of ethanolic extracts of Orobanche spp (Convolvulaceae),Calotropis procera (asclepiadaceae) and Nerium oleander (Apocynaceae) were tested on confused flourbeetle, Tribolium confusum Jacquelin du Val (Col: Tenebrionidae). The fumigant toxicity of extracts werestudied on 1-7 days old of T.confusum under laboratory conditions. Bioassays were carried out at 27±1 ºCand 60 ± 5% R. H. under dark condition adopting a complete randomized block design. Five concentrationsof ethanolic extract were tested in four replications with 20 adult insect in each replication. The mortalitiesof flour beetle were recorded 24 h after commencement exposure. The results showed that the requiredconcentrations of ethanolic leaves extract from Orobonche spp, Calotropis procera and Nerium oleander forcausing 50% mortality (LC50) on the confused flour beetle population were estimated 124.85, 84.1 and 77.89μl/L air ,respectively. The LC95 were calculated 355.64, 304.1 and 256.53 μl/L air, respectively. The resultsindicated that the fumigant activities were increased with increasing concentration of plants extracts. Overall, ethanolic extract of Nerium oleander showed highest efficiency against the flour beetle.
