چکیده مقاله:

Saw toothed grain beetle, Oryzaephilus surinamensis L. is one of the most important storage pests in Iran. The repellent compounds can be effective method to control of some pests. In this investigation, therepellency effect of three species of eucalyptus hexane extract, Eucalyptus globules E. mictrotheca, E.camaldulensis on adult (2-3 days after appearance) of sawthoothed grain beetle were evaluated. Filter papersdipped in different concentrations of extract were used to determine the percentage repellency. Each filterpaper was divided into two parts, one half separately was stained to concentrations of 0/4, 0/6, 0/8, 1/19μl/cm2. The other half separately was stained to solvent (hexane). Then two parts were glued together andwere placed inside the petri dish (diameter 8 cm). 20 numbers of adult insects were placed in the center offilter paper. These testes were performed in four replications. Concentrations of 0/4 and 0/6 μl/cm2 did notshow any repellency. Concentration of 0/8 μl/cm2 was showed the lowest repellency (about 7/5%) andconcentration of 1/19 μl/cm2 showed highest repellency effect (72/5%). The results showed, the repellencyeffects increase with increasing concentration.
