Strategic planning for the development of the smart buildings market in Tehran city based on market size forecasting

One of the fundamental issues in the construction sector is the high rate of energy wastage due to the lack of utilization of modern and smart control equipment. Until now, many activities have been conducted regarding the development of smart buildings, few of which have defined a strategic plan for industry stakeholders and forecasted its market in the long-term perspective.The present study aims to strategically plan the development of the smart building market in Tehran based on predicting the market size in the long term. The research methodology is applied in terms of the objective and falls into the category of qualitative and quantitative research in terms of the execution method. In this research, a questionnaire is used for data collection. The statistical population of this study, using Cochran's formula, includes ۱۳۲ members from smart buildings in Tehran and legal companies active in smart building (based on statistics from Tehran Municipality's Investment and Public Participation Organization). The validity of the questionnaire was confirmed by identified experts, and its reliability was calculated using Cronbach's alpha (۰.۷۵۲) using SPSS software. In this research, the weighted mean method is used to measure the importance and weight of the identified factors, Excel software for strategic planning and decision making, and SWOT matrix analysis method for forecasting results.The research results show that the ۲۰ identified factors are categorized into three indices, in which the technical and economic index ranks first, and social and welfare indices and geographical and environmental indices are next in line. Moreover, according to the expert opinions in this research, the aggressive strategy was considered as the desired strategy.
