Treatment of Intractable Hiccups Using Phrenic Nerve Block: A Case Report

Hiccups are an irregular, rhythmic and spasmodic contraction of diaphragm. It may cause severecomplications such as dehydration, fatigue, insomnia, mental disorder, depression and arrhythmias.Therefore, it must be treated as soon. We report a ۵۲-year-old male of intractable and recurrent hiccups with asuccessful ultrasound-guided block of phrenic nerve who has been referred in April ۲۰۱۲ and treated butreferred again in December ۲۰۱۷ for no apparent cause. During the procedure, the patient's vital signs werenormal. The right phrenic nerve was successfully blocked by ultrasound guidance. The patient's hiccup treatedwithout any special complications. In follow up, there was no complication a month after discharge.
