چکیده مقاله:
Chronic hip pain is a common cause of pain and functional disability in adults. Osteoarthritis is the mostcommon cause of chronic hip pain. Rheumatoid arthritis, osteonecrosis, persistent pain following total hiparthroplasty, post-traumatic arthritis and chronic infection are less frequent causes of chronic hip pain.Hip joint is innervated by the obturator, femoral and sciatic nerves and lumbar sympathetic plexus. Theanterolateral of the hip joint is innervated by branches from the femoral nerve, the antero-medial by theaccessory obturator nerves, and the posterior by the sciatic nerve and the superior gluteal nerve. Theobturator nerve and the quadratus femoris nerve branch provide the largest sensory innervation for the hipjoint. For most patients, conservative measures can control hip pain, but for a few aggressive surgical interventionsare required. When total hip arthroplasty(THA) is not an option, partial sensory denervation of hip joint is anacceptable option. Percutaneous radiofrequency(RF) as a minimally invasive approach can provide favourableresults . Although the number of publications on RF denervation of the hip joint has increased in recent years, there are questions regarding the effectiveness, selection criteria, modes of RF denervations, and type ofradiofrequency.
