چکیده مقاله:

In recent years, remarkable advancements have been made in the field of urban development. However, increasing consumption patterns and unsustainable practices have led to negative consequences, one of which is light pollution, directly affecting the health of humans and the urban environment in smart cities. Addressing this challenge and providing environmentally friendly approaches requires a comprehensive analysis of sustainable urban development. Furthermore, the role of smart cities in managing this issue and their significance in efficiently solving it become more prominent. Numerous studies have been conducted to investigate the negative impacts of ALAN on the health of plants, animals, and humans. The aim of this article is to highlight this issue and provide insights into key factors contributing to light pollution, its effects on health and the environment, and strategies for sustainable urban development to reduce light pollution. Policymakers and other stakeholders require educational resources to provide practical guidance aligned with this sustainable agenda. Therefore, sharing knowledge and promoting awareness of its fundamental importance for creating lasting change that promotes improved living conditions while preserving the environment through innovative initiatives such as smart lighting technologies can significantly contribute to reducing various forms of light pollution. This can be easily achieved through managed communities, specifically designed for the sustainability of urban development, within the framework of engineering and urban management approaches. We present these pathways to be considered in the context of urban engineering, construction management, and sustainable development.
