The effect of using the combination of dressings containing AgNPs and PHMB in wound healing

Aim: Silver, known for its antibacterial properties for centuries, is commonly utilised in various medical devices including wound dressings. PHMB that has a strong antiseptic effect against gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria with low toxicity and excellent tolerance that has been widely used in the medical industry.Method: This review study was conducted by reviewing and summarizing interventional articles from authoritative scientific sites PubMed, Cochrane, PMC and Elsevier with key words of AgNPs, PHMB and wound dressing during ۲۰۱۹ to ۲۰۲۲.Results and discussion: The results showed that the combination of AgNPs and PHMB has about ۱۰۰ times higher antibacterial properties compared to gram-negative bacteria (E. coli) Recently the development of new wound dressing has attracted lots of attention.
