The story of Awakening by Kate Chopin was published for the first time in ۱۸۹۹, and it is the story of a woman named Edna Pontellier, who is struggling with her society with patriarchal thoughts and motherhood and feminine ways to question female stereotypes. Also, Scarlet letter, written by Nathaniel Hawthorn, and published in ۱۸۵۰, is the story of a woman named Hester Pyrin who has experienced the unforgivable act of adultery and extramarital sex and tries to make a new life for herself and her daughter based on repentance and dignity. This article is to investigate the oppression of women and the unsuccessful marriage of these women based on the Marxist theory and the feminist theorist Clara Zetkin, one of the feminist women, as well as the reason for the failure and success of the combat of the main characters of the story. From Clara Zetkin’s perspective, this famous Marxist personality, the capitalist world is the main cause of the oppression of women and the lack of personal growth in women, which must be fought against this corrupt system, so that women can achieve absolute freedom and liberation, in her point of view, Bourgeoise women who marry based on the value of capital and money instead of love and healthy human relationships is the cannot experience a stable relationship and also human values such as loyalty cannot be seen in their marriages, and any women's effort for liberation, except for the abolition of the capitalist system, cannot expect a positive result, and only serious problems are solved temporarily, and women must seek economic equality with men.
