This study evaluated the effectiveness of the role of Multiple Intelligences of ESL Learners in performance on item types of Rational Cloze test to identify the impact of MI components at different levels of understanding. Employing Bachman's classification model for item types of rational cloze test helps the researcher to examine the role of MI components in ESL readers’ higher-order skills related to their creativity and lower-order skills related to their memorization ability in reading comprehension. First, a rational cloze test and then the MIDAS questionnaire were administered to ۱۲۰ English students. The results of correlation analysis indicated that "Musical" and "Linguistic intelligence" are basic capacities of ESL Readers that have an important role in developing both higher-order skills and lower-order skills. "Bodily-Kinesthetic” intelligence has a critical role in developing the higher-order skill of ESL readers and after that “spatial” and “logical-mathematical” intelligence has an important role respectively. The results of multiple regression analysis indicated that ‘kinesthetic intelligence” specifically has the most contribution in developing higher-order skills of ESL readers among other subscales and “kinesthetic” and “musical” and “logical-mathematical” intelligence play important role respectively. "Linguistic" and "Musical” intelligence make the most contribution in the prediction of ESL readers’ lower-order skills.
