OnDecember۳۱ of thesameyear, theWorld Health Organization (WHO) Headquarters officially reported the disease, and on February ۱۱, ۲۰۲۰, the WHO named the infectious disease COVID-۱۹ (Coronavirus disease ۲۰۱۹). COVID-۱۹ was announced a pandemic by the WHO on March ۱۱, ۲۰۲۰. COVID-۱۹ is caused by a newly discovered class of coronaviruses known as SARS-CoV-۲ (severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus ۲) (۱-۴). The new COVID- ۱۹ is highly contagious and has rapidly spread globally. It is the cause of an acute respiratory disease, which has infectedandkilled thousands of peoplearoundthe world (۵), posing a fragile challenge to the resilience of the health system in every country. The world is currently facing a unique health crisis (۶). According to the Worldometer website published statistics on March ۱۵, ۲۰۲۰ (۷), there has been a minimum of ۶,۵۷۲ total deaths and ۲۱۴,۷۳۸ total confirmed cases of COVID-۱۹ worldwide. On March ۱۵, ۲۰۲۱, the confirmed cases of COVID-۱۹ reached ۱۲۰,۸۳۲,۱۹۳ with a mortality rate of ۲,۶۷۳,۲۵۴; these numbers are increasing alarmingly. Health is a key element for the development and progress of every society. In a pandemic, comprehensive information must be attained about the risk factors and potential solutions within the community (۶). In Iran, the assessment of health challenges (especiallyenvironmental health) during the COVID-۱۹ pandemic could be a lesson for future generations and provide health authorities with solutions to improve COVID-۱۹ control policies.
