In this study, high-performance Copper/ Platinum/ Carbon nanofibers-graphene nanoplates (Cu/Pt/ CNFs-GNPs) composites were synthesized by using a ۲-step electrodeposition method. After Pt was electrodeposited on the CNFs-GNPs surface as a pre-treatment, the surface reactivity of the CNFs-GNPs was improved, resulting in a homogeneous deposition of Cu on their surface. The resulting Cu/Pt/ CNFs-GNPs composites possess a high strength of up to ۳. ۷ GPa (∼ ۳ times stronger than pure copper) while their electrical conductivity was as high as ۹۳۰ S/cm (∼ ۶۰% of that for pure copper). More importantly, since the composite wires were lightweight, they are a promising candidate to substitute conventional heavy metal wires in future electrical applications.
